Commercial Real Estate (CRE) is in a dramatically dynamic period. Workspace, workplace culture, demographics, technology, and the economy are all interacting in new ways.
We live in a time of volatility and relentless change.
During these volatile times, CEOs, Business Owners, and Executives Leaders are constantly facing complex and challenging workspace issues.
That’s where I come in.
Hi, I’m Michael. I have a long, not so easy to pronounce last name.
Since as far back as I can remember, my friends have always found it easier to just call me “Stask”, for now feel free to do the same.
I help business leaders make informed financial and operational decisions relating to their occupancy situation, that result in an optimized real estate portfolio.
Standing at this massive intersection of change, we couldn’t be in a better place: patterns, systems, and unlikely connections form in its midst.
Volatile times present great opportunities and my job is to simplify, provide clarity, and connect the dots.
Together, we will translate commercial real estate complexities into occupancy solutions that are perfectly aligned with your business objectives.
Get you to the other side of that massive intersection so that you make wise real estate decisions that will help your company’s workplace function more efficiently, allow you to do more in less time, and improve your company’s profitability.
This is my professional blog.
I focus on workplace culture and how technology affects work environments.
These things are fascinating to me as they are dramatically affecting the global real estate market as the way we work today continues to evolve. I also explore other topics zooming by in that intersection we just talked about.
My full last name is Staskiewicz—that’s Stask-uh-witz.
I have been working in strategic advisory roles for nearly 20 years, serving the CRE and Media industries.
The central theme that has spanned my career is the unique ability to connect and marshal various personality types, breakdown complexity, and simplify.
I have relied heavily on my problem solving skills my entire life, both professionally and personally, and enjoy engaging with people and sharing a common vision.
Currently, I’m the Managing Broker/ Senior Vice President at The Garibaldi Group in Chatham, NJ and most recently, I served as Managing Principal of Effective Realty Advisors, a boutique Commercial Real Estate Services company I founded, based in Northern New Jersey. You can view more on my background and experience on LinkedIn.
Over the last decade, I’ve held senior positions with a couple of the largest CRE firms in the world, Newmark Knight Frank and Lee & Associates.
My career began in advertising, working for Initiative, a global media strategy company, both in New York and Los Angeles.
My primary roles were in direct response advertising and digital strategy where my focus centered around client service, strategic planning, and measuring ROI. During this time I developed strong data, process, and analytical skills that have been an invaluable resource to my clients, business associates, and strategic partners.
Outside of my work in CRE, I have advocated for the rights of abused and neglected children.
From 2012 through 2014, I served over 150 hours as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Essex County CASA. In Essex County, NJ alone, there are more than 2,000 children that have been removed from their homes and placed in foster care because of abuse, neglect or abandonment.
Their cases are brought before a Family Court Judge who sometimes only has a few minutes to make critical life-altering decisions about their future. That’s where a CASA advocate can step in.
Our role is to visit the child regularly in their foster placement, gather specific insight and information about the child’s circumstances and provide the Judge with reports and recommendations to help move the child toward a safe and permanent home.
I’m happily married to my wife Sarah and we have two sons.
We live in Verona, NJ just a few towns away from Nutley where I was born and raised.
I’m very fortunate to maintain lifelong friendships that span decades, from childhood, high school and my alma mater, Rutgers University.
I love traveling and exploring new places.
I enjoy food (big weakness for desserts) and my wife and I take advantage of the great restaurants in Montclair as often as possible (actually we USED to do this a lot more (!) prior to our first son being born in Spring 2014).
I am an avid reader and love toying with new technology, photography, and golf.
